Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of styling this funky little bohemian bungalow for the Heart of Travel Airbnb in Midtown Sacramento and it was an absolute blast!
My client, Chelsea Glass, is the founder/co-owner of Heart of Travel, a travel company based in Guatemala that curates one-of-a-kind trips and itineraries for its clients throughout Latin America. Born and raised in Sacramento, CA, Chelsea first discovered her love for Latin America on a solo trip to Guate at the age of 19 and eventually made her way back to live and build her business there.
When Chelsea and I first chatted last December about her Sacramento house and what she envisioned for it as an Airbnb, she knew she wanted travel and the bold colors and textures of her second home to be at the heart of the design.
Using some of her existing furniture and decor — several of which are artisan-made from Guatemala and Mexico (hello gorgeous throw pillows and pottery!) — I curated a design that mixed vintage and new elements and used rich, colorful images from her trips, in order to deliver on her vision.
The Heart of Travel house made its debut on Airbnb.com on February 4, 2019, and has been nearly sold out ever since, garnering 5-star reviews and earning Chelsea “Superhost” status in less than two months. WOOHOO!
A note from Chelsea about the space…
“There aren’t enough words to describe how impressed we are by Sadye and the immense gratitude we feel towards her and the gorgeous work she did on the Airbnb. She has been nothing but an absolute joy to work with and turned the space into a place more beautiful than we could have ever imagined.”
And here’s what some of the guests have been saying…
“The house is beautiful and the space is very functionally decorated with unique items and photography.”
“The home is decorated beautifully!”
“A fun bright space well decorated and comfortable!”
“Great location with great style!”
“What a beautiful space! We enjoyed looking at the many photos and handicrafts from the hosts travels in Latin America. The rooms were bright and spacious, and the kitchen was fully equipped for our family of four to make several meals during our stay. A great experience!”
“This home was beautiful, clean and vibrant. It had all the amenities we needed and was so close to shops, bars, etc that we didn’t need to drive or use ride share. I loved the small touches in the decor and the spacious backyard. I would recommend this place 100%.”
“Amazing place! Very well thought out decor.”
“Amazing house! So stylish and comfortable!”
